On August 29, 2009 the UT Martin College Democrats volunteered at the Tennessee Democratic Party’s annual fundraiser called Jackson Day. The Day consisted of meetings of statewide Democratic organizations, concluding in a dinner with keynote speaker Bill Clinton (former U.S. President), “I think being a part of this, not only just to volunteer for something that we believe in, it also gave us the opportunity to see politicians on our side of the aisle give great encouraging speeches and really lifted our spirits as well as everyone else who attended,” said Heather Hicks. The College Democrats are doing all that they can to live up to their mission to promote a better America with equality, opportunity and freedom.
